Standards & Practices
Updated: September 29, 2026
michaelsaad.net is Michael Saad’s personal publishing platform. It includes commentary, analysis, personal experience, and other original work. This page explains the standards and practices used in producing and maintaining that work. It is not intended to turn a personal site into a traditional newsroom or to suggest that every piece of content follows the same format.
Independence
Content published on michaelsaad.net represents Michael Saad’s work and perspective unless a piece clearly states otherwise.
Although Michael serves as Chief of Police for the Louisville Police Department in Alabama, michaelsaad.net is not the department’s official website and content published here should not automatically be interpreted as an official position, policy, directive, or statement of the Louisville Police Department, the Town of Louisville, or another government agency.
Accuracy
Reasonable efforts are made to ensure factual claims are accurate at the time of publication.
That does not mean every article will contain every fact, argument, qualification, or perspective related to a subject. A piece may deliberately focus on one part of a larger issue. Laws, policies, technology, practices, and circumstances can also change after publication. Older material may remain available because it documents what was written or understood at the time.
Sources
Sources may include public records, court decisions, laws, government materials, research, reporting, direct observation, professional experience, interviews, and other material relevant to the subject.
Links and citations may be included when they help readers verify a factual claim, understand the source of information, or explore the subject further. Not every observation, opinion, or statement based on Michael’s own experience requires an external citation.
Commentary, Analysis, and Opinion
Much of the work on michaelsaad.net involves judgment, analysis, commentary, or personal perspective. Facts and opinion are not the same thing. The goal is to make it clear when something is a factual claim and when it’s Michael’s interpretation, judgment, or opinion.
Readers are free to reach a different conclusion.
Personal Experience
Some content draws on Michael’s experience in law enforcement, leadership, local government, community work, or other parts of his life. When discussing real events, details may sometimes be limited, generalized, anonymized, combined, or omitted to protect privacy, confidential information, law-enforcement operations, ongoing matters, or other legitimate interests.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, discussion of an event or individual should not be interpreted as a complete investigative record, official case file, legal finding, or statement on behalf of another person or organization.
Corrections
When a material factual error is identified, the goal is to correct it. The way a correction is handled may depend on the nature of the error. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, link, or clarity changes may be made without a correction notice. A material correction may be noted when the change affects a reader’s understanding of an important factual point.
Updates
Articles may be updated after publication to add context, reflect later developments, repair links, improve clarity, or correct information. An update does not necessarily mean the original article was inaccurate. Subjects develop, information becomes available, and older material sometimes benefits from additional context. When an update materially changes the substance of a piece, an update note may be added when appropriate.
Attribution
Work from other people should be credited when used. Quotations, reporting, research, images, data, and other third-party material may be attributed through links, citations, captions, or other methods appropriate to the format.
Artificial Intelligence and Other Tools
Technology, including artificial-intelligence tools, may be used as part of the research, drafting, editing, organization, transcription, production, or publishing process. The use of a tool does not transfer editorial responsibility to the tool. Michael remains responsible for what is published under his name. AI-generated output should not be treated as a factual source merely because a system produced it. Factual claims that require verification should be evaluated against appropriate sources.
Conflicts and Commercial Relationships
Some content may discuss products, services, organizations, or people with whom Michael has a professional, personal, financial, or other relationship. Material relationships will be disclosed when they are relevant to understanding the content or when disclosure is required. Some links may be affiliate links or otherwise generate compensation. Those relationships do not guarantee favorable coverage.
Reader Submissions and Tips
Readers may send questions, suggestions, documents, photographs, or other material. Receiving material does not guarantee that it will be investigated, used, published, or answered.
Do not send confidential law-enforcement information, protected criminal-justice information, medical information, financial-account information, passwords, or other sensitive information through ordinary website forms.
Changes to These Practices
These standards may change as michaelsaad.net develops, new formats are introduced, or publishing practices change. The date displayed on this page identifies the most recent revision.
