I hope that you make mistakes this year.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, challenging yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
A lot has happened since I wrote my 2016 plans and a lot has changed and I made plenty of mistakes between then and now.
Much more than I care to admit and probably even more than I realize.
- I made a lot of hiring mistakes, but I also made some very good ones.
- I made a few bad business mistakes, but I made good ones, too.
- I made many mistakes in my business, personal and professional life… but I also have received more blessings than I can count.
Regardless of the mistakes I made in 2018 – and 2017, 2016, 2007, 1988…
I am still here.
I can wake up everyday knowing that I have another chance to make a positive difference in people’s lives – along with a mistake or two – because I'm not afraid to try.
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself.
Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
– 2019 –
One thing's for sure… I go through web designs more than most people. It seems like Im looking at designs every couple of months. I'm pretty happy with what I have now, so I think (hopefully) you'll see the same design for a while.
This is at the very core of everything I do. It's not about building a killing machine, it's about having a strong mind to negotiate any obstacle that gets in your way. Having a strong combat mindset allows you to build a strong mind to overcome past experiences, just as effectively as it prepares you to encounter any future trauma.
Whether that obstacle is an abusive prick, a traumatic experience – or an attacker that wants to kill you – having a solid Combat Mindset will help you find your way over and above whatever problem you face.
Self Defense Studio
If you're ever in Dothan Alabama, stop by and say hello at my fitness, self defense and personal training studio.
I still have workshops around the world.
New Podcast Show
This is the biggest joke I have ever told… I've been “working” on creating a podcast for over 6 years. Maybe 2019 will be my year? Stay tuned and see. And, by the way, talking to myself in a mic still always makes me feel like an idiot.
This show, while focused on personal development and the Combat Mindset, will offer much more than how to beat an attacker senseless… you cant really do that over audio effectively anyway. Instead, we'll provide dialog on theory and concepts, with an occasional interview.
Until next time…
